Computer Support Specialist

Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NLHS) plays a crucial role in providing healthcare across the province, serving a diverse population spread over vast geographic areas. With a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, NLHS oversees a network of hospitals, long-term care facilities, and community health services.


In alignment with the Provincial Health Accord, NL Health Services will be replacing Meditech Magic and Client Server (CRMS) with a new leading-edge Health Information System (HIS). This project will be the largest health care system implementation ever launched in Newfoundland and Labrador. On their behalf, we are currently recruiting Computer Support Specialists to join this major project.


Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Provide support regarding matters related to telecommunication, hardware, network, security, and application support which encompasses all applications (e.g. Meditech, PACs, Pharmacy Network, EMR, HEALTHeNL Viewer, Telehealth, Client Registry, Provider Registry, etc.) in all Regional Health Authorities, pharmacies and other locations throughout the province.
  • Track technical deployment and integration issues and coordinating issue resolution.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in computer science or technical college diploma in an information technology program.
  • Minimum of two years' current (within the last four years) progressive experience in information technology.
  • Experience in the planning, deployment, and support of information technology in a healthcare environment.
  • Current working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, security protocols, secure communication options and network-based services deployment and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a highly motivated, client-focused individual who can work independently and who possesses strong interpersonal, analytical, communication and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and exercise substantial judgment and autonomy to prioritize work orders.
  • Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE).
  • A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
  • A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct.

Job Details:

  • Hours of work: 75 hours biweekly (Shift work may be required).
  • Salary: CG-29 ($27.07-$30.07).
