Right Traffic is a leading company in the Traffic Control industry, experiencing rapid growth across North America. As the fastest-growing national traffic control company, we are excited to partner with them to hire a Senior Accountant to work out of their HQ in Dartmouth, NS.


Reporting to the Corporate Controller, as a Senior Accountant at Right Traffic you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, analyzing operational performance, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, external auditors, lenders and senior executives to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial success of our organization.


Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, operational reports, and performance metrics on a regular basis. Ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Month-End and Year-End Closing: Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations as necessary.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze organizational performance, and financial trends. Provide insights and recommendations to support continuous decision-making.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard financial data and prevent errors or fraud. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist external auditors during annual audits by providing requested documentation, explanations, and reconciliations. Address audit findings and recommendations.
  • Work closely with the external bodies to ensure accurate and timely preparation of tax-related documents, including corporate tax returns and regulatory filings.
  • Continuously assess accounting processes and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and automation. Contribute to the implementation of new systems or technologies.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and investment professionals, to achieve common goals and objectives.


The ideal candidate will possess:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as an accountant within the financial services or high-growth industry, with a strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, regulations, and taxation.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and financial systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to convey complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
