Role Description

Located in the Halifax office, the Project Manager – Electrical will thrive on prioritization and leadership, ensuring that while others focus on their tasks, the larger goals are always in sight. You will steer projects towards success, ensuring deadlines are met without missing details. Your strong communication skills keep clients, consultants, and contractors informed and aligned. You excel at managing multiple tasks seamlessly and are eager to tackle ambitious projects. You're the driving force behind smooth project execution, from inception to completion.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing system-engineering concepts and prepare concept reports, ensuring alignment with project goals and budgetary requirements.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of existing installations, managing project outcomes effectively.
  • Handle calculations, equipment selection, and task delegation to support project milestones, leveraging the expertise of designers and CAD Technicians as needed.
  • Facilitate seamless document coordination across internal and external project teams, fostering clarity and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain rigorous standards for project administration, documentation, and quality management, ensuring all project commitments are met promptly and accurately.
  • Manage the shop drawing review process within defined timelines, collaborating closely with the contract administration team to streamline project workflows.
  • Proactively manage change notices and respond to technical and financial inquiries.
  • Keep stakeholders informed of scope changes and prepare contract amendments as required.
  • Develop and monitor detailed project schedules, tracking essential tasks, hours, and critical data points to ensure timely project completion.
  • Foster productive relationships with external consultants and vendors.
  • Support accounts receivable processes, contributing to project financial accountability.
  • Organize and participate in client meetings, delivering compelling presentations that align project progress with client expectations and objectives.

Your Qualifications

Within the field of electrical building services, you are an experienced professional engineer with a relevant educational background. You are a natural leader who can work collaboratively as well as you can independently. You are driven by your meticulous work ethic and possess strong oral and written communication skills, able to adapt your approach depending on your audience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the building services industry with a proven track record of successfully executing complex projects.

 

Your qualifications include:

  • Years of relevant work experience in the field of electrical building services.
  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or related; Registration with Engineers Nova Scotia.
  • A Senior Certified Engineering Technologist with equivalent experience may also be considered.
  • Full understanding of Codes and Standards relevant for the project and is able to communicate all requirements to the internal project team, external project team, owner, and Authorities having Jurisdiction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of provincial building code, electrical code, CSA, ULC, IEEE, IES and NFPA standards.
  • Experience in healthcare facilities, including Infection Control Certification (CAN/CSA Z312 and CSA Z32) is an asset.
  • Experience in project management, working on projects from concept to detailed engineering.
  • Strong leadership skills; Ability to work well independently or within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex environment with multiple projects and clients.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable problem-solving skills.
  • LEED certification / Experience implementing sustainable design (LEED projects) is an asset.
