Quality Concrete Inc is a Ready Mix Concrete supplier and Aggregate Quarry operator serving Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. In business since 1958 we are excited to partner with them to find an Inventory and COGS Accountant to join their talented team. As an Inventory and COGS Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing company inventory, analyzing costs, and optimizing financial performance. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy in inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, and related financial reporting. This role can offer great flexibility and can be either a part-time or full-time role. This kind of flexibility doesn’t come around often!


Responsibilities include:

 

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and administrator and reconcile inventory counts (including Raw Materials) with financial records.
  • Monitor inventory levels and analyze trends to identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Reconcile BOL (bill of lading) to invoices and accounting software.
  • Calculate, analyze, and post the cost of goods sold (COGS) to support financial reporting and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams at multiple plants and locations including, purchasing, production, and supply chain teams to ensure timely and accurate recording of inventory transactions.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Oversee vendor pricing and process vendor invoices and payments.
  • Participate in process improvements initiatives to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
  • Reconciling and maintain inventory reports to accounting software.
  • Administering and reconciling inventory counts (done by drone).


The ideal candidate should possess:

 

  • Experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably with exposure to inventory management and cost accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software is a must.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and multiple plants simultaneously.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
