We’ve partnered with Horizon Maritime in search of an Accounts Payable Coordinator to join their finance team in St. John’s! This role is a great opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, dedicated to continuous improvement, and has a strong background in finance. As part of their team, you will contribute to their commitment to growth, learning, and strengthening client relationships.


Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Accounts Payable Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the accounts payable procedures and functions. The Accounts Payable Coordinator also assists with a range of accounting duties, including the receivables processes, and contributes to special projects.


Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the accounts payable procedures for Horizon Maritime and its subsidiaries.
• Manage payables cycles, including coding, recording invoices, and credit card transactions across Financial and Operational systems.
• Ensure consistency between invoices and approved purchase orders, securing necessary secondary approvals.
• Collaborate closely with other departments to resolve discrepancies.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships and handle inquiries regarding payment schedules.
• Maintain the integrity of vendor and transaction data across purchasing and accounting systems.
• Oversee invoice processing, ensuring appropriate escalations and approvals.
• Assist with month-end accruals, financial reports, and preparation for year-end audits.

 

What We're Looking For:
• Accounting diploma/degree or relevant training from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Experience in a relevant accounting role; familiarity with all payables processes and financial management preferred.
• Proven ability to handle financial records, data compilation, and report preparation.
• Able to perform moderate to complex account reconciliations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and familiar with accounting and purchasing software.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, managing tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
• Good moral judgement, discretion and confidentiality for handling sensitive information and monetary transactions.
• Critical thinker with a high degree of accuracy in data entry.
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
