We are excited to be working with Ross Ventures to expand their leadership team. They are looking for an experienced CPA to join their team as the Director of Finance in their Fredericton office. This role is part of the leadership team where collaboration and transparency are valued to help generate innovative ideas, challenge the status quo and grow the business. The leadership team is consisting of the Chief Executive Officer, two shareholders, and a part-time Chief Financial Officer. This role will report to the CFO on an interim basis.


This position’s duties will require planning and directing all accounting and finance activities, reviewing and interpreting financial statements with the leadership team, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, maintaining positive relationships with auditors, banks, and financial partners to ensure a positive forward-looking view of the business.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, reconciliations of the accounting team including month and year-end closing processes with an aim of improving the efficiency of these activities.
  • Coordinate with the CEO, and development of the annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Prepare cash flow projections and consider risks and sensitivity to help the leadership team make better decisions.
  • Periodically review, test and improve the organizations internal controls.
  • Participate in all leadership meetings to present and explain financial statements, cash positions and budget variances (for review) and to understand business progress, risks, etc.
  • Monitor performance tracking and prepare detailed analysis for improved insight and any potential changes and improvements.
  • Oversee all compliance reporting and filing obligation with third parties while keeping CEO and leadership team abreast.
  • Provide insight to some strategic tax planning.
  • Growth with our business and be fully versed in our strategy.


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • CPA designation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field of study.
  • 5 to 10 years experience in a mid to senior level role.
  • Tax planning will be considered a strong asset.
  • Experience in private sector will be considered an asset.
  • Strong and broad financial acumen (Ex: understanding of financial statements, cash flow and business modeling, business intelligence, FP&A, etc.).
  • Experience in commercial real estate will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to get into the details and get the job done while seeing the bigger picture.
  • Attention to detail and ability to spot errors or idiosyncrasies.
  • Articulate, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact comfortably with the CEO and ownership group.
  • Ability to coach and train accounting staff.
