We are excited to be working with a growing organization that is looking to expand their team by adding a Controller. Reporting to the VP Finance, the Controller will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, analyzing operational performance, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, external auditors, lenders and senior executives to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial success of our organization that is rapidly growing each and every month.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Financial management:
    • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
    • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in compliance with ASPE and company policies.
  •  Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Support the VP, Finance in the annual budgeting process for the company, collaborating with department heads to establish financial goals and objectives.
    • Develop and maintain accurate financial forecasts to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Financial reporting:
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with established timelines.
    • Analyze financial results and provide insights to senior management on trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly borrowing base and covenant workbooks for reporting to external lenders and investors.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, and company policies.
    • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
  • Audit Coordination:
    • Manage the relationship with external auditors and coordinate the annual audit process.
    • Address audit findings and implement recommendations to strengthen internal controls and quality of work.
  • Team leadership:
    • Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
    • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the team's skills and capabilities.
    • Identify competencies gaps in the finance organizations capabilities and work with senior leadership to fill.


The ideal candidate will posses:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Controller or financial leader within a hyper high-growth company, with a strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, regulations, and taxation.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and financial systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to convey complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
