Role Overview
Butterfield is seeking a highly experienced professional to serve as a Senior Application Analyst (Payments Manager). In this capacity, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for the partnership’s SWIFT and domestic/internal payment operations. Role Overview
Butterfield is seeking a highly experienced professional to serve as a Senior Application Analyst (Payments Manager). In this capacity, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for the partnership’s SWIFT and domestic/internal payment operations. They will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, efficiency, and regulatory compliance of global payment systems, requiring a deep understanding of the payments industry and emerging financial technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Operations: Execute the unit’s strategic plan in alignment with the partnership's business goals. Oversee day to day SWIFT functions including payment processing, reconciliation, and exception handling.
- Innovation & Efficiency: Stay current on industry trends and technological advancements to drive innovation. Formulate and manage process re-engineering projects to improve operational productivity.
- Risk & Compliance: Formulate risk mitigation strategies to protect the partnership’s reputation. Ensure strict adherence to all regulatory requirements, including AML/CTF regulations and SWIFT CSP audits.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, vendors, and regulators, in line with the partnership's service excellence standards.
- Project Leadership: Lead and participate in related technical projects. This includes scoping requirements, leading stakeholder discussions, and performing UAT/regression testing.
- Team Development: Promote a culture of service excellence and quality. Plan and implement staff training programs to enhance competency in risk, compliance, and new system protocols.
- Reporting & Analysis: Ensure the timely and accurate compilation of statistics and analysis for reporting and risk management, meeting all internal and external cut-off times.
Qualifications & Competencies
- SWIFT Expertise: Minimum 10 years of SWIFT system administration and network management experience within financial services. Deep familiarity with SWIFT FIN messages (MT 1, 2, 5, and 9 Series).
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in secure server to server payment messaging configurations and a strong understanding of ISO 20022 message standards.
- Educational Background: A degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Compliance Knowledge: Solid understanding of KYC, AML, and international banking compliance frameworks.
- System Knowledge: Hands on experience with SWIFT Alliance Cloud or SWIFT Alliance Warehouse is considered a significant advantage.
- Analytical Skills: Proven ability to design and implement detailed system test plans and infrastructure service tests.
- Soft Skills: A professional demeanor with the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality. Candidates must be able to work under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Travel: Ability to travel as needed to provide oversight and assistance for off site partnership projects.
Key Technical Skills Required
- SWIFT Network End to End architecture.
- SWIFT installation, configuration, and deployment.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation of services.
- Experience selecting and configuring third party vendor tools within a multi cloud environment.
- Strong knowledge of Core Banking and Payment applications.
