Reporting to the Manager of Stormwater Infrastructure Delivery, the Leader, Stormwater Network will provide strategic and technical leadership for the planning, design, and delivery of Calgary’s stormwater conveyance system. You will oversee a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical professionals responsible for delivering linear stormwater capital projects, including stormwater pipelines, storm ponds, wetlands, drainage systems, and flood‑mitigation infrastructure. As a key member of the leadership team, you will foster a culture of safety, innovation, and collaboration while ensuring infrastructure is delivered efficiently, effectively, and in alignment with corporate priorities.

Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & People Management: Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of technical and professional staff; oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management; foster a culture of safety, innovation, and collaboration.
- Capital Project Delivery: Provide engineering expertise and technical oversight for stormwater linear capital projects, including pipelines, tunnels, storm ponds, wetlands, drainage systems and flood‑mitigation infrastructure; guide projects from concept development through feasibility, planning, design, approvals, estimating, tendering, contract administration, construction management, inspection and commissioning; ensure all projects are delivered on time, on budget and in compliance with regulatory, safety and performance requirements.
- Strategic Direction & Corporate Alignment: Support the development of long‑term strategic plans for stormwater conveyance infrastructure and ensure alignment with corporate priorities, asset management principles and regulatory requirements; participate in multi‑year capital planning and provide input to the section’s annual operating budget; support the development of business processes that enhance consistency and efficiency.
- Governance, Standards & Continuous Improvement: Act as a technical authority for stormwater conveyance systems within the corporation; maintain and enhance engineering standards, project management practices, quality assurance processes and reporting structures to support consistent project delivery; promote innovation and continuous improvement in design approaches, asset management, risk management and construction practices.
- Collaboration, Communications & Industry Partnerships: Collaborate with internal and external partners, developers, regulators, consultants and contractors to ensure stormwater infrastructure functions safely, reliably and sustainably; support proactive communication with partners and stakeholders to effectively manage issues, risks and expectations.
- A degree in Engineering and at least 8 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after achieving P.Eng. designation.
- Must be currently licensed with APEGA as a Professional Engineer with practicing status or be eligible to obtain practicing status by the first day of work.
- A degree in Civil or Environmental Systems Engineering is preferred.
- In‑depth knowledge and experience with stormwater or municipal linear infrastructure design, construction, and asset management.
- Demonstrated experience delivering capital infrastructure programs or major engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of stormwater hydraulics, pipeline systems, drainage systems, and regulatory frameworks.
- Formal leadership or supervisory experience is considered an asset.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and experience with project‑tracking software are considered assets.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Rate of Pay: $148,900 – $186,100 per annum
- Hours of Work: This is a non-union position that works Monday-Friday 35 hours per week.
