The Corporate Accountant’s role is to support MetOcean Telematics’ accounting team in their ever-growing global business by providing world-class accounting, reporting, and operational support.
Reporting to the Controller, this role will be responsible for supporting the accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely preparation of internal financial statements. This role plays a key part in the month-end close process, reconciliations, and reporting, helping provide management with reliable financial information for decision-making.

The Corporate Accountant’s role is to support MetOcean Telematics’ accounting team in their ever-growing global business by providing world-class accounting, reporting, and operational support.
Reporting to the Controller, this role will be responsible for supporting the accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely preparation of internal financial statements. This role plays a key part in the month-end close process, reconciliations, and reporting, helping provide management with reliable financial information for decision-making.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and review general ledger account entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Prepare month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
- Prepare monthly financial statements and related management reports including consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Compile monthly working paper files
- Support external reviews by providing requested documentation and explanations
- Prepare reports and analyses to communicate financial results
- Prepare operating expense analysis and provide feedback to various levels of management
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives and ad hoc projects to provide financial analysis for decision support
- Support and maintain adherence to third-party reporting requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in routine accounting processes
- Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting, including developing or enhancing existing reports
- Other duties, as assigned
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Finance, Business, Commerce or Accounting, CPA or in CPA program an asset but not required.
- Minimum 2 years of progressive experience within a finance department, with financial reporting and month-end close responsibilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office 365 suite of applications
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, or other ERP systems and Microsoft Power BI preferred but not required
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to evaluate effective solutions
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Excellent team player, as well as the ability to work independently
- Effective communication skills
- Strong ability to integrate and interpret information from diverse sources of varying complexity
- Strong attention to detail and demonstrate a capacity to adapt to change quickly
