We are excited to be looking for a results-driven Controller to lead the financial accounting, reporting, and payroll operations for ANBL and Cannabis NB. This is a high-impact leadership role in a complex, dual-entity environment, where you’ll ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance across all financial processes while driving efficiency and continuous improvement.


As Controller, you’ll oversee a talented team of Assistant Controllers, Accountants, and Payroll professionals, ensuring timely reporting, audit readiness, and strong governance. You’ll play a critical role in stabilizing day-to-day operations and creating capacity for Finance to operate strategically. 


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 
  • Lead the controllership function for ANBL and CNB, including accounting, reporting, payroll, and compliance.
  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, financial statements, and audit deliverables.
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS and internal control standards.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a multi-level finance team.
  • Drive improvements in reporting accuracy, process efficiency, and governance.
  • Collaborate with FP&A and business units to enhance financial insights and support strategic decisions.
  • Maintain strong banking relationships and oversee payroll integration into financial systems.

The ideal candidate will possess:
 
  • CPA designation required.
  • 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership role.
  • Expertise in IFRS, internal controls, and audit management.
  • Experience managing payroll operations and ERP systems (Microsoft GP/Dynamics 365 an asset).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead teams and build process discipline in a fast-paced environment.
