Accounting and Client Relations Manager

Pivot Bookkeeping is a growing and subscription based cloud platform helping business owners navigate their finances and year-round tax reporting. We are excited to be working with them as we seek a detail-oriented and experienced accounting professional to join our team as an Accounting and Client Relations Manager. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a client-focused environment, has strong technical expertise in accounting and tax, and enjoys mentoring team members while driving process improvements and business success. 

 
Key Responsibilities Include: 

 
Bookkeeping & Financial Reporting 
  • Prepare accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end adjustments in compliance with ASPE, ASNPO, and GAAP. 
  • Assist auditors and reviewers by providing complete and accurate client documentation. 
  • Maintain trust accounting records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Continuously improve internal procedures to reduce risk and enhance efficiency. 
  • Perform cost allocations and ensure accurate financial data management. 
Taxation & Compliance 
  • File corporate and personal tax returns, GST/HST remittances, payroll remittances, and T-slips on time. 
  • Respond to CRA audits/reviews and resolve discrepancies or inquiries. 
  • Advise on corporate tax structures and owner compensation strategies (salary vs. dividend). 
  • Maintain a basic understanding of luxury tax regulations. 
Financial Analysis & Client Advisory 
  • Explain financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow) to clients in clear, simple terms. 
  • Identify trends and discrepancies through ratio analysis and recommend improvements. 
  • Support clients with budgets, projections, and cash flow management. 
  • Conduct P&L analysis, including sales by service and project profitability. 
  • Liaise with banks and lenders to meet requirements and provide strategic financial insights. 
Technology & Systems 
  • Utilize QBO, Dext, and Karbon for accounting and workflow management. 
  • Work with industry-specific software to extract and analyze financial data. 
  • Leverage advanced Excel skills for reporting and analysis. 
Client Management & Leadership 
  • Oversee a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP. 
  • Mentor and support junior accountants, reviewing work and ensuring timely progress. 
  • Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service. 

 The ideal candidate will possess: 
 
  • CPA designation, in the process of or interest in completing would be considered a strong asset. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration – or a relevant combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including tax and financial reporting. 
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE, ASNPO, GAAP, and corporate tax structures. 
  • Proficiency in QBO, Dext, Karbon, and advanced Excel are strong assets 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. 
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving ability. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to foster positive client relationships and work collaboratively within a team.
