Irving Business Services is seeking a dynamic and results-driven professional to join their team as Senior Project Sourcing Specialist. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Saint John, New Brunswick, supporting a major capital investment project in JDI’s pulp mill operations.
Role Description:
As a Senior Project Sourcing Specialist, you will be a key member of a cross-functional team working closely with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance. You’ll lead procurement efforts for a multi-billion-dollar capital rebuild project, ensuring contracts are strategically developed, negotiated, and executed to support project timelines and budgets. This role is highly operational and fast-paced, requiring a hands-on leader who can confidently navigate complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement Leadership
- Develop and implement contract strategies for major capital equipment and services.
- Lead commercial negotiations and participate in technical discussions to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Run Contract Execution Planning (CEP) meetings to track contract timelines and deliverables.
- Resolve post-contract disputes and ensure procurement activities support overall project schedules.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Identify and source new vendors to meet evolving project needs.
- Work closely with engineering teams on-site to address daily challenges and keep procurement on track.
- Provide budget input and prepare approvals for expenditure.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive procurement efficiencies across the project lifecycle.
- Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in procurement or project sourcing, ideally within mining, oil & gas, or large-scale industrial projects.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and influencing skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Assertive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Proven ability to collaborate with technical teams and lead procurement strategy from planning through execution.
- Experience with contract development and dispute resolution.
