Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with Patterson Law on their search for a Manager of IT to join their team.
Patterson Law is a Nova Scotia law firm with offices in Halifax, Truro, New Glasgow and Bridgewater, serving clients whose interests range from global to purely local. Their 150+ lawyers and staff are dedicated to meeting their clients’ diverse legal needs. We are excited to partner with Patterson Law as they welcome a Manager of Information Technology to their team.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role with a defined succession path to Director of IT. The successful candidate will work closely with the long-tenured Director of IT, who brings deep institutional knowledge, during a one-year mentorship period before assuming full leadership of the department. This role combines operational ownership with strategic planning and offers an opportunity to modernize systems, mature ITIL processes, and shape the future of the IT function.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of IT, the Manager of Information Technology will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the firm's technology infrastructure and IT operations. This includes providing hands-on technical support, implementing ITIL-aligned service management practices, coordinating projects, and ensuring technology services meet the needs of staff across multiple office locations.
You will manage a small, experienced IT team while also actively participating in day-to-day technical work. Over time, you will take on increasing responsibility for strategy, vendor management, security oversight and participation in the firm's Executive Team as you transition into the future Director of IT role.
This role also offers the chance to help shape the firm’s emerging AI strategy. From assessing legal-tech AI tools to implementing practical solutions that improve efficiency for lawyers and staff, you will have the opportunity to lead meaningful, forward-looking innovation. AI experience is an asset but not required. Curiosity and a willingness to explore new technologies are highly valued.
