Meridia has partnered with Medavie Health Services New Brunswick to recruit a Bilingual (EN/FR) Health and Safety Consultant to join their team based in Moncton, New Brunswick.
Under the Medavie Inc. umbrella, Medavie Health Services is a health care delivery company that provides ground and air ambulance services, medical communications, clinical training, and community health solutions. Our client is responsible for the successful operation of some of New Brunswick’s most critical health services, including Ambulance New Brunswick (ANB), as well as the Extra Mural Program (EMP) and NB Health Link (NBHL).
Role Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Quality and Risk, the successful candidate will be responsible to lead and oversee the implementation, monitoring and reporting of ANB/EMP/NBHL Health and Safety Program(s). The Health and Safety Consultant will work closely with the management team and be the safety champion, providing education, advice and support to operational managers, regarding the operation of the programs and their responsibilities within them as they are outlined in related law within the NB OHS Act and company policy. Further, the Health and Safety Consultant will work collaboratively and support all aspects of safety within the organization, providing expert opinion based on research and best practice, while maintaining positive working relationships with various stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be required to travel throughout the Province of New Brunswick as needed.

- Remain current with health, safety, WHMIS, and security legislation to ensure compliance;
- Liaise with WorkSafeNB on regulatory issues and legislative updates;
- Lead and improve health, safety, and injury prevention programs;
- Promote a strong safety culture through coaching and support to staff and leadership;
- Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and risk mitigation initiatives;
- Deliver orientation and training programs to build awareness and accountability;
- Communicate health and safety goals consistently across the organization;
- Establish and support Joint Health and Safety Committees to foster collaboration;
- Work with committees to reduce workplace injuries through targeted actions;
- Conduct risk assessments, inspections, investigations, and audits, ensuring follow-up;
- Maintain accurate safety records and generate reports for compliance and planning.
As the ideal candidate, you are a certified (or certification-ready) occupational health and safety professional with strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Your qualifications include:
- Bilingualism is required for this position. Fluency in English and French, both written and verbal, is a mandatory qualification;
- Post-secondary education specializing in Health and Safety Management or related field;
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Health and Safety focussed role;
- Possession of or willingness to obtain formal certification in Occupational Health and Safety;
- Energetic, self-motivated, and adaptable individual who thrives in fast-paced environments;
- Strong team player with the ability to work both as part of a team and independently;
- Skilled at building credibility and effective cross-functional relationships;
- Highly organized, dependable, and deadline-driven;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Strong problem-solving abilities and commitment to confidentiality;
- Proficient in research, analysis, and policy development;
- Technically proficient with common software and digital tools.
