The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join the finance team. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of the account’s payable operations across multiple processing facilities. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in high-volume AP environments and a proactive approach to internal stakeholder management, process improvement and system optimization.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join the finance team. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of the account’s payable operations across multiple processing facilities. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in high-volume AP environments and a proactive approach to internal stakeholder management, process improvement and system optimization.
In This Role, You Will:
- Oversee full AP accounting cycle with high volume of transactions
- Execute weekly cheque runs and prepare comprehensive weekly AP reports
- Review and verify PO and invoice accuracy, shipping and receiving reports, proper coding, and appropriate approvals in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Serve as a primary point of contact for vendor inquiries and internal management
- Assist in managing the AP mailbox and workflow queues
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals and reporting
- Prepare AP-related reports and assist with audits as needed
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Collaborate effectively with plant managers and team members, fostering strong working relationships through clear and professional communication
- Utilize Sage Accounting software and integrated AP automation tools to ensure timely and accurate processing
- Monitor and troubleshoot AP software performance, ensuring seamless integration and functionality
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a high-volume accounts payable setting, including working with purchase orders, invoices, and shipping and receiving confirmations
- Proven experience in a high-volume accounts payable environment is essential.
- Familiarity with Sage Accounting and AP automation tools (e.g., Quadient AP by Beanworks) is considered an asset.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable working with purchase order systems and financial reporting tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
