Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States, and around the world. As part of the J.D. Irving (JDI) group of companies, Cavendish has state-of-the-art processing plants in Prince Edward Island, Ontario, Alberta, and North Dakota, and sales offices in Ontario, Quebec and Massachusetts.

Cavendish Farms has partnered with Meridia Recruitment Solutions in search of a Plant Manager to help lead their operations in New Annan, Prince Edward Island.

Role Description

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Plant Manager will lead the operations for one of two adjacent potato-processing facilities, which together form one of the largest food manufacturing plants in Atlantic Canada. You will oversee the Production, Maintenance, and Sanitation teams at the plant level, and your key areas of focus will include safety, quality, cost, people, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include:
  • Developing strategic goals and execution plans with the plant leadership team to satisfy demand;
  • Providing strong leadership to your team by coaching, motivating and managing the performance of your direct reports;
  • Identifying training and growth opportunities for your staff, providing feedback and guidance to ensure team development;
  • Monitoring plant performance and controlling costs, analyzing data to identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Working collaboratively with Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Safety, Raw and other departmental leaders to achieve established quality, raw and financial targets;
  • Ensuring plant Sanitation department maintains and/or exceeds compliance with SQF requirements;
  • Participating in the review and recommendation for capital improvements of equipment and plant facilities;
  • Assisting with the interview and selection process for new hires.
Qualifications

As the ideal candidate, you have proven experience coaching, managing and motivating high-performing production teams in a manufacturing environment. You’re focused on team development and continuous improvement, and you leverage data in your decision-making process.

Your qualifications include:
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent industry experience;
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in a production facility;
  • Experience working in a large manufacturing environment is an asset;
  • Food manufacturing experience is preferred, potato-processing experience is a definite asset;
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, and leadership skills;
  • Understand budgets and have the ability to manage/forecast plant resources effectively.

Compensation Details: Approximately $135,000 base salary + incentives
