Role Description
As CBCL’s Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will help lead CBCL’s geotechnical engineering division, collaborating with other design and construction professionals daily on challenging and exciting geotechnical projects. You will have the opportunity to shape CBCL’s future geotechnical practice through business development, and a defined track to team/office management will be discussed with the right candidate.

Responsibilities include:
- Managing geotechnical investigation and design projects from inception to completion;
- Providing geotechnical engineering for subsurface investigations and geotechnical analysis and design;
- Developing, directing, and implementing comprehensive geotechnical field programs;
- Developing scope and writing proposals for geotechnical projects;
- Conducting and supervising various data analyses and associated reporting;
- Ensuring product quality control with adherence to company standards and industry best practices;
- Mentoring and developing the technical skills of junior team members and fostering a culture of continuous learning;
- Participating in and leading multidisciplinary teams, including providing strategic support to management on resource allocation at a project and departmental level; and
- Contributing to business development efforts and helping to shape the future direction of our consulting services.
As the ideal candidate, you have proven leadership abilities and you’re comfortable leading large, impactful geotechnical engineering projects. Your qualifications include:
- University graduate with a Degree in Geotechnical, Geological, or Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering (master’s degree preferred);
- 15+ years of relevant working experience in geotechnical engineering, with a demonstrated track record of successful project leadership;
- A strong foundation in applying geotechnical engineering principles to solve complex problems;
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, and leadership skills;
- Ability to work and lead effectively in a team environment;
- Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle required;
- Ability and willingness to travel;
- Experience local to Atlantic Canada is preferred and considered a strong asset.
