In collaboration with its network of members and partners, techNL provides business growth services, visibility, and a collective voice to tech and tech-enabled companies in Newfoundland and Labrador with a vision to make Newfoundland and Labrador the most sought-after Canadian tech ecosystem, globally recognized for its collaborative community, diversity, and quality of life.

Meridia Recruitment is excited to partner with techNL in seeking an Employer Support Lead. This role will be key to fostering the growth of technology companies by offering HR support, best practices, and connecting employers to the resources they need to thrive. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead initiatives that create an inclusive, growth-driven culture within the Newfoundland and Labrador's tech sector.

What You Will Do:
  • HR Support and Best Practices: Provide HR guidance, research best practices, and develop specific programs to support tech employers in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Facilitate Peer Learning: Organize and facilitate peer group meetings for tech companies in areas like HR, sales, and other relevant topics, promoting collaborative learning.
  • Employer Hiring Support: Assist employers in sourcing talent and securing funding for hiring initiatives, working closely with other techNL staff.
  • Immigration Support: Help employers navigate immigration processes and become designated AIP (Atlantic Immigration Program) employers in collaboration with experts and consultants.
  • DEIB Initiatives: Support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives within the tech sector to create a more inclusive and supportive industry.
  • Presentations and Moderation: Lead and moderate virtual and in-person sessions for employers, sharing best practices and insights.
  • Administrative Support: Perform other administrative duties as needed, including local travel for program-related activities.

Who You Are:
  • Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field is an asset. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Project Management Experience: Experience managing multiple projects or programs with strong attention to detail.
  • HR Expertise: Background in leading HR and people initiatives for tech employers, including hiring best practices, employee handbooks, policy creation, and more.
  • Technology Proficient: Experience using tools such as HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, Trello, or similar platforms to manage client relationships and projects.
  • Self-Starter: Ability to work independently, take initiative, and deliver results with minimal supervision.
  • Labour Market Knowledge: Familiarity with workforce topics such as identifying skills gaps, addressing those gaps, and linking individuals with relevant partners.
  • Creative Problem Solver: Ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to support employers in overcoming challenges.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Advocate: Experience and commitment to promoting DEIB initiatives in the workplace.

Additional Details:
  • This role is a full-time contract position, with the contract expiring on March 31, 2030.
  • This position involves working primarily in-person, with the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays, although employees are encouraged to be present in the office for all five workdays.
  • The role includes a mandatory group health benefits plan.
  • 3 weeks paid annual vacation included.
