Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a prestigious law firm to recruit a Senior Manager, Procurement to join their office in Toronto or Montréal.
The Senior Manager, Procurement is a key member of our client’s Finance team, reporting to the Director, Finance. The Senior Manager, Procurement is responsible for leading and optimizing all procurement processes and strategies aligned with the firm’s goals and objectives, ensuring cost-effective, efficient and timely acquisition of products, materials and services. This role involves managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance with procurement policies and regulations.
Your Responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement Planning
• Develop a centralized procurement program that seamlessly integrates internal teams to create an efficient process for the firm
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to define business needs and service requirements
• Lead strategic initiatives to ensure the procurement of high-quality products, services or materials at competitive prices
Vendor Management
• Build and manage vendor relationships by implementing structured processes for vendors’ selection and negotiations, including gathering quotes, proposals and purchase terms and conditions
• Serve as liaison between the firm and external vendors
• Set goals and key-performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate and review vendor’s performance to ensure compliance with quality and service standards
Contract Negotiation and Management
• Oversee contract negotiations, ensuring that agreements are fair, legally sound and aligned with the firm’s needs to secure favorable terms and conditions
• Monitor contract performance, ensuring adherence to agreed-upon terms and addressing any issues that arise
• Manage risk and ensure contractual obligations are met by vendors
Procurement Process Optimization
• Understand market dynamics to optimize the procurement strategy, assess price fluctuations and drive cost efficiencies
• Implement best practices in procurement, including the use of technology and automation tools to manage processes and create efficiencies
• Recommend new products, services or materials in keeping with industry trends
• Continuously improve procurement processes, workflows and systems to increase efficiency
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry regulations and legal requirements
Budgeting and Cost Management
• Work closely with internal stakeholders (Finance and Department Heads) to forecast procurement needs and manage budgets effectively
• Monitor spending, ensuring that procurement activities align with financial goals and constraints
• Provide regular reports on procurement performance, cost savings and vendor performance
Leadership and Stakeholder Collaboration
• Although the Procurement Senior Manager will not manage a team, the incumbent of the position will lead and mentor his peers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment
• Develop training and development programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of internal stakeholders
• Ensure clear communication of goals, priorities and expectations across the Finance team
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and ensure alignment with business goals
• Act as a liaison between departments and vendors, ensuring smooth communication and issue resolution
• Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to support broader organizational objectives
Your Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Management, Business/Administration, Economics or a related field
• 7+ years of experience in procurement, with a focus on vendor management
• Proven experience in leading procurement initiatives and managing negotiations
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Proficient in procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
• Experienced in contract management
• Knowledge of procurement best practices, legal frameworks and industry regulations
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively
• Ability to communicate, read and write in French is an asset
