Role Description
As a Professional Traffic Control Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing traffic management solutions to ensure the safe and efficient flow of vehicles and pedestrians. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, transportation planners, and construction teams, to develop and implement effective traffic management strategies. We are seeking a Professional Traffic Control Engineer who is willing to be sponsored to obtain an American Professional Engineer License in multiple states. You must be in strong standing with the licensing board and qualify for comity between these states. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to the improvement of transportation systems and gain experience throughout North America.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and implement traffic management plans and strategies to optimize traffic flow and reduce congestion.
- Conduct traffic impact assessments for new developments and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Design and optimize traffic signal timings and phasing plans to maximize efficiency and minimize delays.
- Analyze traffic data and conduct traffic capacity analysis to identify bottlenecks and areas of improvement.
- Collaborate with transportation planners and engineers to develop sustainable transportation solutions.
- Conduct safety assessments and recommend measures to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented traffic management measures and make necessary adjustments.
- Stay updated on the latest traffic engineering practices, regulations, and technology advancements.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and proposals for clients and stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and support to junior traffic engineering staff.
- Develop and maintain cost data, including labor and equipment rates, installation methods and production rates.
- Develop and maintain estimating procedures and guidelines.
- Prepare reports as needed.
Your Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a Professional Engineer with experience working in a fast-paced, nimble organization. You have experience directly in traffic engineering and are open to some travel across the US and Canada.
Your qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
- Master's degree considered an asset but not required.
- Professional Engineer (P Eng.) license.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license considered an additional asset.
- In strong standing with their engineer licensing governing body.
- Must be willing and able to obtain their American Professional Engineering License (PE).
- Experience in traffic engineering, including experience with traffic impact assessments, traffic signal timing, and capacity analysis.
- Experience using traffic analysis software and CAD software for traffic engineering applications.
- Strong knowledge of transportation engineering principles, practices, and standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
