Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a prominent law firm in Toronto to recruit an Accounts Receivable Manager to join their team.
Reporting into the Director, Billing and AR Operations the Accounts Receivable Manager is responsible for leading the Firm's client accounts receivable collection strategies while managing a high-performing team to ensure efficient operations and exceptional client service. This role emphasizes strategic planning, team leadership and collaboration with Finance colleagues and legal professionals to maintain strong client relationships and drive successful collections outcomes.
Your Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement strategies for client accounts receivable collection, customized to specific portfolio segments.
• Lead and prioritize collection efforts, assigning responsibilities and coaching staff to enhance skills and performance.
• Collaborate with Finance colleagues to manage collection activities, ensuring a strong client and legal professional experience.
• Engage with partners regularly to address unpaid accounts, establishing actionable plans for invoice collections.
• Provide leadership to the accounts receivable team, overseeing recruitment (with HR support), training, mentorship, performance management, and team morale.
• Manage cash application processes to ensure timely and accurate allocation of payments.
• Oversee credit management activities, including evaluating credit risk.
• Establish and track performance metrics, delivering insightful reporting to internal stakeholders.
• Set clear, results-oriented targets for collections staff to drive performance.
• Negotiate payment terms with clients as required, adhering to delegated authority levels.
• Prepare and present analysis for accounting reserves to management and external auditors.
• Support month-end closing processes in collaboration with the Controller.
• Assist in annual budget preparation by providing relevant analysis and insights to the Director, Billing & AR Operations.
• Respect requirements for client confidentiality
Your Requirements:
• This position requires a university degree in a business-related discipline, including coursework in accounting and finance, along with a minimum of 5 years of accounts receivable experience and at least 3 years in a supervisory role. Prior experience in business process management is essential. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may also be considered.
• To excel in this role, the ideal candidate must be solution-oriented with the ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining a focus on delivering exceptional customer service.
• Strong leadership and project management skills to effectively guide teams and drive initiatives to completion.
• Outstanding customer service excellence, demonstrating professionalism and the ability to effectively communicate with legal professionals and clients, ensuring their needs are prioritized.
• High proficiency in computer software, including spreadsheet programs and database systems, to streamline processes and deliver accurate results.
• In-depth knowledge of credit and collections policies, systems, and business process management, aligned with industry standards.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, ensuring clarity and professionalism in all interactions.
• Maturity and professionalism to interact with senior members of the firm, earning their trust and confidence while fostering strong working relationships.
