We are pleased to partner with them in bringing a talented Financial Services Specialist to join their team. Reporting to the Controller – Shaw Manufacturing, the Financial Services Specialist (Specialist) will be responsible for accounts payable and the administering of automated accounts payable systems. The Specialist will also be responsible for limited shared accounting duties, and accounting projects as required. This role will require a keen and motivated professional to support The Shaw Group’s busy AP process. The Specialist will also take on the project management and process improvement initiative of designing and installing a new automated solution to streamline AP operations. This role is designed to deliver value-add to the company while paving the way for career advancement opportunities within The Shaw Group for a motivated finance professional. The approach will begin with learning and supporting the current day-to-day processes, followed by taking the initiative to drive automation and process improvements, leveraging insights gained to shape and advance this AP evolution initiative. These duties will be in direct support of The Shaw Group’s manufacturing & production divisions and will be based in Milford and Lantz.

Key responsibilities and priorities in this role will be:
- Project lead and administering of the accounts payable automation systems solution
- Process creation and documentation for automated accounts payable systems
- Posting and processing vendor invoices and employee expense reports
- Process improvement initiatives for accounts payable and related functions
- Perform reconciliations of purchase order receipts, working closely with the procurement department to resolve discrepancies
- Overseeing the employee expense report process and policies
- Executing payment runs (EFT, wire, cheque) and coordinating the approval process
- Maintaining proper documentation of all procedures and internal controls relating to accounts payable
- Posting of journal entries as required
- Accounting projects as required
- Data collection and the development of new reports, dashboards and KPIs
- Other duties as required
The ideal candidate will have:
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in a related field (business, accounting etc.)
- Inquisitive and comfortable taking the initiative to look for and do, new and added value work
- Superior attention to detail
- Strong knowledge of accounting functions and related control processes
- Advanced technical skills in Excel, Microsoft Office, accounting systems and technology
- Experience with accounting systems (i.e.: Syspro, TrailD, etc.) would be considered an asset
- Superior organization and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects / tasks at once in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
