Meridia Recruitment has partnered with Bulk Carriers (P.E.I.) Limited. Bulk Carriers (P.E.I.) Limited is a growing 95 truck transportation fleet that hauls refrigerated freight throughout Canada and the US. With the goal of growing the business and expanding their best in class service offering, Bulk Carriers is seeking a Business Development Manager to help grow relationships and shipments from the US into Southern and Central Ontario and back to the east coast of Canada.
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for new business development, client meetings and business representation, client maintenance, assisting with RFP responses, pricing, understanding the business and options for freight and working collaboratively with logistics and other key stakeholders. The successful candidate will be accountable to maintain and develop strategic relationships with key customer contacts with the idea of fostering and growing existing business while identifying and targeting new business relationships and opportunities as well as maintaining and reporting on a positive sales funnel. Working closely with the senior leadership team of Kelcold and Bulk Carriers, the Business Development Manager with work to grow customer business as it relates to cold storage and transportation.
Responsibilities will include:
As the ideal candidate, you are a results-oriented individual possessing 3+ years experience in a related professional business development capacity. Entrepreneurial in nature, you demonstrate strong ability to identify target markets, aggressively solicit and qualify prospects and close deals. A key to success in this role will be robust relationship development skills with the proven ability to initiate and close leads. With exceptional organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, you possess strong business acumen and are highly motivated and analytical by nature. Knowledge of the transportation and/or cold storage industries would be preferred and a book of business or established relationships ideal. Localized and US travel and a home office close the GTA will be required.

- Generating leads through cold calling, networking and referral
- Closely managing a balanced sales funnel, executing all steps of the sales process from target to close to continually secure and grow new business
- Providing a solution-based sales approach to drive new business across multiple lines of business in LTL, truck load and cold storage
- Negotiating contracts and rate agreements
- Developing, executing and monitoring strategic and tactical goals to maximize sales, profit and to ensure sales targets are met or exceeded
- Providing ongoing reporting and analysis, including territory trending, sales reports/analysis, CRM reports and trade spending analysis

Additional Requirements include:
- 3+ years experience in a related business development role
- Post-secondary education in business, a related field or experience
- Freight forwarding or cold storage experience as an asset
- Operational experience within the logistics-based transportation industry as an asset
- Strong business knowledge of North American transportation modes and customers as an asset
- Driven self starter able to work within a remote team network
- Highly professional presentation and communication skills
- Technologically adept and digitally enabled
- Possession of a valid G drivers’ license and clean driver’s abstract
- Ability to travel to the US.
