Now, Meridia is pleased to partner with Stewart McKelvey in recruiting for a Director of Finance. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Finance will lead efforts to advance a corporate culture of continuous improvement and modernization within the Finance Function.
The Director of Finance will be responsible for financial management of the firm including planning, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, profitability analysis, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, cash flow control and forecasts, banking relationships, investment, tax planning, tax reporting, trust accounting and reporting and other financial management as required.

The Director of Finance will be responsible for financial management of the firm including planning, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, profitability analysis, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, cash flow control and forecasts, banking relationships, investment, tax planning, tax reporting, trust accounting and reporting and other financial management as required.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the finance department while advancing efforts to continuously improve finance processes, policies and service standards
- Leadership for technological and systems modernization across the Finance Function, ensuring the firm leverages shared resources, and the tools and capabilities of existing systems
- Ensuring the firm’s financial internal controls follow Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise and/or other regulatory requirements
- Taking charge of the year-end audit process and working with external auditors to prepare annual financial statements for stakeholders
- Conducting long-term planning to ensure that the finance infrastructure supports future requirements and initiatives
- Leading the annual budget process
- Developing Finance staff to meet the current and evolving needs of key stakeholders.
- Staying informed on relevant commodity, tax and regulatory compliance issues and trends
- Fostering relationships with key internal stakeholders and external parties including banks, financing institutions, external auditors, service providers, etc.
- Playing a key role in capital planning and assessing future capital investment opportunities.
- Other related duties
The ideal candidate will possess:
- CPA designation coupled with a bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of senior financial management experience. Exposure to professional services environment would be considered an asset
- Experience managing and developing a large, diverse team located across multiple offices
- A drive for success and opportunity, and eagerness to help bring others along
- A continuous improvement mindset .
- Comfortable with technology and leveraging technology to drive improvements
- Excellent communication and people management skills
