We are pleased to be partnered with them as we are looking for a Financial Assistant to bring to their team in Halifax.


The Financial Assistant will provide financial and administrative support to enable the party to comply with the Nova Scotia Elections Act. The ideal candidate will work on various bookkeeping, data and financial analysis tasks related to political contributions received by the organization.  Membership activity and other analytical data processes will be completed on an as needed basis. 


Responsibilities will include:
 
  • Ensuring accurate recording of political donations in compliance with the Nova Scotia Elections Act and support the reporting process and reconciliation with the financial ledger.
  • Manage the preparation of tax receipts for eligible contributions.
  • Ensuring adherence to political financing laws and guidelines.
  • Assist with preparing records and documentation for the annual contributions and financial statement audits.
  • Liaising with stakeholders, including party members, donors and vendors.
  • Ad hoc duties and special project work as needs arise.

The ideal candidate will possess:
 
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or a related field.
  • Experience in bookkeeping and administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Previous experience in a political, non-profit environment is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
