Meridia Recruitment has partnered with Moore Packaging, a leader with over 40 years in corrugated and retail ready packaging, in the search of a Maintenance Manager to lead millwrights and maintenance personnel in their 24/7 unionized facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Proactively check quality standards and functionality of services and machines regularly
  • Create and implement preventive maintenance plans and schedule maintenance work into the production plan
  • Escalate any problems early and schedule repairs to minimize downtime and loss to business
  • Conduct regular assessments and trainings to ensure safety of employees
  • Analyze processes to ensure efficient functioning and adjust as necessary
  • Effectively manage projects to completion in a timely, cost-effective manne
  • Use/wear required personal protective equipment and ensure employees do the same
  • Source and purchase all necessary parts, equipment, services and documentations to perform the maintenance work
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm (may vary based on demand, must be willing to work overtime as required, including weekends)
Duties:
  • Establish, maintain and improve the maintenance planning and scheduling process
  • Scope the full extent of maintenance work needed to conduct the relevant repair/preventative/predictive/design-out activities on plant equipment and the premises
  • Develop cost and time estimates of planned maintenance work; create and track expenditures to budget
  • Purchase all necessary parts, equipment, services and documentation to perform the maintenance work
  • Responsible to maintain accurate record of equipment maintenance history
  • Perform root cause failure analysis
  • Apply best practices in parts management to ensure adequate inventory of critical parts and ensure parts and equipment are stored and reliable
  • Ensure key performance indicators are captured and reported for equipment reliability and maintenance department performance
  • Manage attendance and vacation of maintenance staff
  • Manage performance and drive engagement within the department
  • Maintain applicable inspections and certifications (e.g. steam, sprinkler system, ESA, prestart inspections)
  • Other duties as required

  • Be a trusted leader to the team providing fair and consistent resolution to conflict or problems
Qualifications include:
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Millwright/Electrician Certification
  • 5 years management or supervisory experience with heavy machinery, production lines or related fields
  • Strong working knowledge of current ESA, OHSA, Human Rights and other applicable standards/legislation
  • Strong critical thinking and organizational skills
  • Ability to identify and solve inefficiencies in processes
  • Effective time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
