Meridia is excited to partner with the Region of Queens in their search for a Municipal Clerk to join their team!


We are seeking a diligent, organized, and highly motivated Municipal Clerk to support the work of the Municipal Council and oversee key administrative functions. As the Municipal Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring that the operations of the Council and its committees run smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This role requires a highly capable individual with exceptional organizational, communication, and administrative skills, and someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.


Responsibilities will include:
 
  • Provide procedural guidance and administrative support to Council members, ensuring the effective preparation, distribution, and documentation of agendas, minutes, reports, and other materials.
  • Serve as the official record keeper for Council and committee meetings, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
  • Act as the Executive Assistant to the Chief Administrative Officer
  • Provide expert guidance on municipal policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Facilitate effective communication between Council, staff, and the public on governance and access to information.
  • Uphold the values of integrity, accountability, efficiency, and service excellence.

The ideal candidate will possess:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, community development, sociology, psychology, social work, similar degree OR equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an administrative role, municipal experience is preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of municipal governance, the legislative process, and public administration principles.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail to accurately and diligently handle complex documents and processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in managing meetings, taking minutes, and drafting reports.
  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in office software and records management systems.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Experience in a similar administrative or leadership role is preferred.
  • Commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
