Meridia Recruitment Solutions is pleased to be partnering with the Town of Truro in the search for a self-motivated, people oriented, a strategic thinker and an accounting professional Director of Corporate Services to join their team.


Working directly with the CAO, and as a key member of the Senior Management Team, the Corporate Services Director is responsible for all aspects of the Town’s Financial Management, including budgeting, accounting, reporting and internal controls, Human Resources, IT, Procurement, Records Management, Insurance and general office equipment requirements. Additional job requirements include collective bargaining assistance, pension plan administration and policy adherence.


Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Supervise the Finance Manager, IT Manager, Manager of Facilities and Safety, Purchasing Officer and Manager of Human Resources.
  • Being an integral part of the Senior Management team and communicating effectively with the CAO and other Directors in discussing budgeting, strategic planning, and organizational flow.
  • Attendance at Council meetings to discuss financial reporting and to address municipal issues as required.
  • Acts as a resource to the CAO, Town Council, its Committees and external agencies on financial matters.


The ideal candidate will possess:

 

  • CPA designation.
  • 5+ years in a progressive management role.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics G, or a similar ERP accounting software system.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, including strong capabilities in Excel.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles required, knowledge and understanding of PSAB standards an asset.
  • Knowledge in human relations and negotiating.
  • Knowledge of the Municipal Government Act.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively and efficiently with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated analytical, administrative and supervisory skills.
