Meridia is excited to be partnered with Irving Shipbuilding to recruit an Intermediate Procurement Specialist to join their team in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

 

Role Description

The Intermediate Procurement Specialist is accountable for full lifecycle procurement activities for a portfolio of medium-to-high complexity procurement packages for the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) program, inclusive of systems, equipment, and materials.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform requisite research and analysis to develop an optimal sourcing strategy across the assigned portfolio.
  • Execute stakeholder management activities to ensure accurate, timely, and clear advice is provided to the business to support progress and schedule adherence.
  • Perform full life cycle supplier management activities, including pre-qualification, supplier engagement, supplier negotiations, and supplier performance management.
  • Ensure on-time material delivery and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) adherence.
  • Develop and implement Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposal (RFP).
  • Manage these sourcing events to meet cost management and scheduling expectations.
  • Perform a full suite of contract management activities for the assigned portfolio, including contract preparation, executive briefings, participation in and/or leading negotiations, and post-award contract administration.
  • Fulfill Purchase Order management requirements, including invoice review and attestation to ensure first-time match invoice management.

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise and practical experience essential for understanding of end-to-end supply chain and procurement activities. You have post-secondary education in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field. Candidates without a formal degree who possess an additional two years of relevant experience will also be considered. You have a proven track record of completing procurement tasks efficiently, showcasing their ability to handle multiple responsibilities and deadlines.

 

Qualifications include:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline preferred, or an additional two years of experience in lieu of formal education.
  • In-depth understanding of end-to-end supply chain and procurement activities, typically acquired through practical, on-the-job experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in shipbuilding, aerospace/defence, heavy manufacturing, construction, or relatable industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete assigned procurement tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize large amounts of information and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite.

 

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
