Role Description
As a Senior Municipal Engineer, you will be accountable for providing technical expertise, modeling, analysis and design services on multi-disciplinary projects. This will include the management of municipal engineering projects and managing client relationships. You will be participating in assessments, modeling, preliminary and detailed design, cost estimates, specifications, contract documents, tendering and contract administration. As a subject matter expert, you will be providing engineering design expertise, in the areas of municipal engineering, civil design, transportation, water, sanitary, and stormwater design, and project management. This role demands a professional who thrives in a collaborative, dynamic setting, embodying leadership qualities and an initiative-driven approach to excel within GEMTEC's culture of quality, integrity, and collaboration. Traveling among GEMTEC Atlantic locations may be necessary to support and contribute effectively to various projects.

 

Duties:

  • Contributing expertise in municipal engineering projects, encompassing planning, design, and implementation of infrastructural developments within urban environments.
  • Engaging in comprehensive civil design tasks, ensuring precision and compliance with regulatory standards for various projects.
  • Applying specialized knowledge to transportation-related engineering, facilitating efficient and safe movement of people and goods through innovative design and planning.
  • Spearheading the design and execution of water, sanitary, and stormwater systems, emphasizing sustainability and functionality in these critical infrastructures.
  • Overseeing projects from inception to completion, involving planning, organizing resources, managing timelines, and ensuring quality deliverables.
  • Taking charge of project timelines, resources, and deliverables, ensuring adherence to schedules and quality benchmarks.
  • Crafting comprehensive documents and drawings essential for project execution, maintaining precision and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Providing on-ground support and guidance as necessary to ensure the smooth implementation of projects.
  • Leveraging AutoCAD Civil 3D software for design, analysis, and documentation purposes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in project workflows.
  • Overseeing and managing construction processes, liaising between contractors and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met effectively.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ Municipal or Civil Engineer Experience or equivalent experience.
  • On path to registration or currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or P.GEO
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Proven project management and technical skills.
  • Experience with software like AutoCAD Civil 3D is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
