Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a well-established, full-service law firm in Ottawa to recruit a Law Clerk – Real Estate to support their commercial real estate and development law practice. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced legal professional seeking to contribute to a busy practice while providing high-quality administrative and legal support throughout commercial real estate transactions and development matters.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating administrative procedures, preparing legal documents and correspondence, conducting title sub-searches, and supporting the lawyer in managing workflows and competing priorities to ensure a high standard of quality and client service.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and initially draft correspondence, including editing and quality assurance.
• Prepare precedent-based documents as required.
• Conduct title sub-searches and perform preliminary reviews of title searches.
• Coordinate workflow, assist the lawyer in prioritizing tasks, and follow up on outstanding items.
• Coordinate internal and external communications, including mail, email, fax, and telephone calls.
• Prepare client files for closure and storage.
• Coordinate and organize meetings and conference calls, and maintain agendas.
• Assist with additional projects as required.

YOUR REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE


• Diploma in Legal Office Administration or Law Clerk studies from a recognized post-secondary institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in a legal assistant or law clerk role.
• Experience supporting commercial real estate transactions would be considered an asset.
• Experience in development law would be considered an asset.
• Experience preparing and editing legal correspondence.
• Working knowledge of Unity and Teraview.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Bilingualism would be considered an asset.

This is a current vacancy; the salary range is $50,000–$65,000.
