We are excited to partner with the Gasparetto Group Limited in the recruitment of a Group Controller to join their team in Dartmouth, NS. Reporting to the Chief Operating and Finance Officer, this full-time, permanent role will oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions across all entities within the Group. The Group Controller will lead month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting, and budgeting and forecasting activities, and will support strategic financial initiatives. As a key business partner to operational leadership, you will ensure the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial information across the Group.

Key responsibilities include:

Finance & Accounting
  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting functions of operating businesses across the equipment rental, service and construction industries.
  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting functions of real estate, management and other non-operating entities.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow projections.
  • Coordinate year-end reviews, audits and tax compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with ASPE and internal controls.

Leadership & Team Development
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentorship to accounting and administrative personnel across the Group of Companies.
  • Support succession planning and cross-training initiatives.

Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Develop KPIs and management dashboards.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives with financial modelling and analysis.

Systems & Process Improvement
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities.
  • Assist with ERP optimization and reporting enhancements.

Business Partnership
  • Collaborate with operating managers across the operating entities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by translating financial information into business insights.

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
  • CPA designation (or working toward the CPA designation) strongly preferred.
  • Five to ten years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Experience supervising accounting staff.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills, with a dependable, collaborative approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to partner with and manage stakeholders across the business.
