The Senior Accountant, New Operations will provide in-depth financial statement review, analysis, account reconciliations and support across finance divisions, with an opportunity to contribute to business growth and continuous improvement across new business sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Reconcile corporate general ledger accounts, investigate reconciling items and work cross-functionally to ensure appropriate accounting under ASPE.
- Review financial reports and prepare detailed variance explanations that support decision-making.
- Partner with accounting, treasury, financial planning and analysis, operations and other finance departments to streamline processes, improve efficiency and strengthen performance.
- Build and use financial analysis tools to manage and report on new operation results.
- Document accounting processes and policies to guide the financial reporting team.
- Assist with annual audited financial statements and liaise with auditors to address queries.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Prepare financial reports, charts, tables, PowerPoint presentations and other exhibits; respond to ad hoc projects related to business growth.
The ideal candidate will have:
- CPA designation or near completion of the CPA program coupled with a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Accounting experience in public practice or a comparable corporate role is a strong asset.
- Strong computer literacy and advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Thorough technical knowledge of Accounting Standards.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience with Yardi software is considered an asset.
- Passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care.
