Meridia Recruitment Solutions is pleased to partner with Sealand Building Group in the recruitment of an Architectural Technologist to join their team located in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Role Description
As an Architectural Technologist, you will play an integral role in the design and technical development of industrial and commercial construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers, consultants, engineers, trade partners, and clients, you will transform concepts into detailed construction documents while helping ensure projects are coordinated, code-compliant, and ready for successful execution.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated design professional who enjoys balancing technical drafting, design coordination, and project support. You will contribute throughout the project lifecycle, from preliminary planning and design development through construction and project closeout, while gaining exposure to some of Atlantic Canada's most specialized construction projects.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Prepare conceptual layouts, design-development drawings, permit packages, and construction documents.
  • Develop floor plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, and building-envelope assemblies.
  • Produce accurate as-built drawings and updated drawings at project completion.
  • Work closely with design, project and site teams to support the successful transition from design into construction.
  • Participate in site visits to gather field measurements, verify construction progress, help address design-related issues and support ongoing project requirements.
  • Support permit submissions, regulatory approvals, and project closeout activities.
  • Research and understand building codes, bylaws, space requirements, site requirements, and technical standards to support compliant and effective design solutions.
  • Assist project teams with design development and related project administration activities, including support with contract and bidding documentation as required.
  • Review drawings from various disciplines to identify conflicts and support effective project coordination.
  • Assist with project documentation, tender packages, contract-related information, and other project support activities.
  • Maintain accurate drawing logs, shop drawing records, and project documentation.
  • Update and assemble as-built drawings and project closeout documentation.
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with clients, consultants, and internal project teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing design and project delivery processes.

Your Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented Architectural Technologist who enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and contributing to projects from concept through construction. You possess strong technical drafting capabilities, sound knowledge of building construction, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Your qualifications include:
  • Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Architectural Technology, commercial construction design, or a related environment.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada and applicable construction standards.
  • Experience preparing construction drawings, technical documentation, and related design deliverables.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to proactively identify and resolve technical and design challenges in a practical and cost-effective manner.
Assets Include:
  • Experience working on industrial, food processing, cold storage, manufacturing, distribution, or specialized commercial construction projects.
  • Experience in a design-build construction environment.
  • Site experience and exposure to active construction environments.

Why Join Sealand Building Group?
  • Professional development, education, and training opportunities.
  • A collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • The opportunity to work on specialized projects that help build Canada's food industry.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
