Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with the Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) to recruit a Deputy Chief Financial Officer (Deputy CFO) to join their leadership team.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Deputy CFO will provide leadership across accounting, treasury, financial planning and analysis, procurement, financial reporting, and capital finance. This role will play a key part in supporting strategic decision-making, overseeing day-to-day financial operations, and ensuring the organization maintains strong financial management, governance, and reporting practices.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes in support of organizational priorities and capital investment plans.
 • Prepare financial analysis, business cases, and investment models to support executive and Board decision-making.
 • Oversee treasury operations, liquidity management, financing arrangements, and banking relationships.
 • Provide financial oversight of capital projects and procurement activities, ensuring effective budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls.
 • Lead the preparation of accurate and timely IFRS-compliant financial statements and management reporting.
 • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to financial systems, reporting processes, internal controls, and finance operations.
 • Coordinate the annual external audit process and ensure compliance with regulatory, taxation, and reporting requirements.
 • Prepare materials and reporting for the Executive Leadership Team, Audit Committee, and Board of Directors.
 • Partner with leaders across the organization to support budgeting, resource allocation, and operational decision-making.
 • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

YOUR REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

 • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
 • CPA designation required; MBA or other advanced business or finance education considered an asset.
 • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including 5 years of experience in a senior finance role with responsibility for financial planning, reporting, treasury, and governance.
 • Experience supporting Boards of Directors, Audit Committees, and senior executive leadership teams.

KEY SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS

 • Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, treasury management, internal controls, and financial planning practices.
 • Demonstrated success improving finance functions, systems, processes, and reporting capabilities.
 • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
 • Experience within infrastructure, transportation, marine, logistics, public sector, or other capital-intensive industries would be considered an asset.
 • Ability to obtain and maintain Transport Canada Security Clearance.

This is a current vacancy; salary range is $189,000 - $245,000.
