Role Description

As a Director of Human Resources, you will provide strategic success and employee focused operational leadership for all human resource functions across Anglophone East School District. Reporting directly to the Superintendent & CEO, you will be responsible for advancing workforce excellence through human resources leadership, labour relations, recruitment and retention strategies, payroll oversight, workforce planning, employee relations, policy development, volunteer processing and support and organizational effectiveness initiatives. You will play a critical role in establishing and supporting district priorities by ensuring people practices align with legislative requirements, district objectives, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Providing strategic leadership for all human resources, recruitment, retention, workforce planning, labour relations, and payroll functions;
  • Advising and supporting the Superintendent & CEO on organizational design, workforce strategy, risk management, and human resources matters;
  • Ensuring compliance with employment legislation, collective agreements, contracts, district policies, and administrative procedures;
  • Leading employee relations activities including performance management, workplace investigations, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution;
  • Overseeing recruitment, selection, induction, development, and retention initiatives to attract and maintain high-quality talent;
  • Supporting leadership development and providing supervision and coaching to administrators and assigned staff;
  • Promoting safe and healthy workplaces through occupational health and safety leadership and compliance oversight;
  • Monitoring workforce trends, analyzing data, developing performance metrics, and recommending continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Building positive relationships with employees, unions, community stakeholders, and external partners while representing the district with professionalism and integrity.
Your Qualifications
As the ideal candidate, you are a collaborative and strategic human resources leader with a strong track record of driving organizational excellence within complex, unionized environments. You bring extensive experience in labour relations, workforce planning, employee engagement, and organizational leadership, coupled with exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities. You are comfortable operating at both the strategic and operational levels, providing sound advice to executive leadership while fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, continuous improvement, and service excellence.

Qualifications Include:
  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labour Relations, Law, or a related discipline;
  • Demonstrated expertise in human resources management, labour relations, and organizational leadership;
  • Significant experience interpreting and administering collective agreements, employment contracts, and employee relations matters;
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, regulatory compliance, and human resources best practices;
  • Proven experience leading complex organizational initiatives and system-wide improvement efforts;
  • Experience in recruitment, talent management, succession planning, and workforce development;
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong analytical capabilities with experience utilizing metrics and data to inform decisions and improve organizational outcomes;
  • Bilingualism (English/French), public sector experience, a master’s degree, and experience working in unionized environments will be considered assets.
