Role Description
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Operations Supervisor will play a critical role in overseeing daily operations within Samson Industrial’s boat repair facility. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership position responsible for coordinating workflow, supporting employees, maintaining productivity, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
This role is ideal for an operations-focused leader who enjoys working in an active environment and being directly involved with employees, equipment, subcontractors, and ongoing projects. The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time in the yard, providing direction, solving problems, and ensuring the operation runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Team Leadership
Work closely with the Operations Manager to plan upcoming work and coordinate weekly priorities.
Assign daily tasks to yard employees and ensure work progresses according to schedule.
Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and support to a team of skilled tradespeople.
Monitor progress, identify challenges, and address issues before they impact timelines.
Act as a key communication link between employees and the Operations Manager.
Marine Repair Coordination
Support the coordination of vessel repair and maintenance projects from arrival through completion.
Help identify operational issues and determine the best approach for resolution.
Work alongside mechanics and tradespeople to understand project requirements and priorities.
Ensure equipment, tools, and materials are available to support ongoing work.
Coordinate subcontractors and external service providers as required.
Materials, Equipment & Yard Management
Order materials and supplies required for upcoming projects.
Ensure employees have the resources needed to complete work efficiently.
Maintain an organized and productive yard environment.
Support proper use and maintenance of equipment and tools.
Safety & Quality
Promote safe work practices and ensure company safety expectations are followed.
Monitor work quality and support a culture of attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Identify potential safety or operational concerns and address them promptly.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with experience in a mechanical or industrial environment. They will have the technical understanding needed to work effectively with tradespeople while also bringing strong organizational and leadership skills.

Qualifications

Ideal Qualifications include:
- 5+ years of experience in a mechanical, marine, industrial, construction, or similar environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and previous experience working with tools, equipment, or mechanical systems.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Ability to understand repair processes, troubleshoot issues, and make practical decisions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in the marine industry would be considered a strong asset.
