Meridia Recruitment Solutions has collaborated with a full-service law firm to recruit an Accounting Clerk to join their Finance team in Ottawa, Ontario. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and takes pride in providing accurate and reliable financial support.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounting Clerk will be responsible for a variety of accounting and administrative functions, including trust accounting, accounts receivable, client billings, and financial reconciliations. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional service standards.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 • Administer trust account transactions in accordance with Law Society Rules and Regulations, including deposits, postings, and cheque issuance.
 • Manage and administer client trust investments.
 • Prepare bank deposits, wire transfers, EFT transactions, and credit card payments.
 • Post and reconcile daily deposits and financial transactions.
 • Prepare client billings and verify the application of appropriate taxes.
 • Generate billing and accounts receivable reports for lawyers.
 • Assist with various accounting and finance-related projects as required.

YOUR REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of financial clerical or accounting experience, including account reconciliations.
• Experience working with financial software, such as Simply Accounting or similar accounting platforms.

 • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
 • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
 • Exceptional client service and interpersonal skills.
 • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of an organization.
 • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
 • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
 • Ability to adapt effectively to changing schedules and priorities.
 • Positive, professional, and supportive approach to work.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Salary range of $48,000 – $55,000.
