Role Description
Reporting to the President, the General Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership for the business, ensuring the company continues to operate safely, efficiently, and profitably while building on a legacy of quality and customer service. As the General Manager, you will:
- Provide overall leadership for the organization's operations, financial performance, and long-term business success.
- Develop and execute business plans that support growth, profitability, and operational excellence.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team while fostering a culture built on accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee ready-mix production, fleet operations, plant maintenance, scheduling, and quality standards to ensure efficient and reliable operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor key business and operational performance metrics and implement strategies to improve results.
- Lead capital planning, equipment renewal, budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and industry partners while supporting business development opportunities.
- Support labour relations, workforce planning, succession planning, recruitment, and employee development initiatives.
- Represent the organization within the community and industry while strengthening South Shore Ready Mix's reputation as a trusted partner.

- Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing manufacturing, industrial, construction materials, aggregates, ready-mix concrete, heavy equipment, or other relevant operationally intensive businesses.
- Strong business acumen with experience managing financial performance, budgets, and operational planning.
- A proven ability to lead through managers while building engaged, high-performing teams.
- Experience driving operational improvements, implementing process efficiencies, and managing organizational change.
- Strong relationship-building skills with customers, employees, suppliers, and community stakeholders.
- Knowledge of health and safety, environmental compliance, and operational risk management.
- Experience leading employee relations and workforce development initiatives.
- An engineering, business, operations management, or related educational background would be considered an asset.
