This is an opportunity to join that success and contribute to a world-class organization in the role of Cost Controller, based in St. John’s, NL.
What You Will Do
- Analyzing, maintaining, and validating all production and labour data presented to Senior Management.
- Responsible for ensuring the accurate costing of products in SAP.
- Preparing weekly management reports encompassing key performance indicators relating to raw material production, performance yield, economical yield, and contribution margin as well as various comparisons to budget and prior year(s).
- Providing strategic advice to the Senior Management Group in various areas of costing including direct and indirect labour and overhead.
- Oversight of the Company's cost center accounting, including review of budget vs. actual by cost center and weekly/monthly reporting.
- Compile and analyze financial reporting packages.
- Manage capital expenditure budgets.
- Monitor the financial performance of the company and communicate key metrics to senior management.
- Assisting with the annual preparation of the standard budget and business planning process, including the identification and validation of various company costs.
- Providing oversight to the general accounting functions for the company.
- Completing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions in SAP when required.
- Preparing monthly financial statements and various internal management reports as requested.
- Ensuring strict compliance of the company to established internal control policies and procedures.
- Ensuring strict compliance of the company to accepted accounting standards in conjunction with the annual Group Audit.
- Providing assistance with all areas of the annual Group Audit as requested.
- Assisting with special projects and management presentations when required.
- Other duties as required and assigned by the Director of Finance or Senior Management.
Qualifications
- Outgoing and personable individual with previous experience in a similar role.
- Post-secondary education in a related field preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cost management and cost control practices.
- Experience with expenditure planning and performance metrics tracking.
- Working knowledge of SAP preferred.
- Familiarity with financial accounting software and reporting systems considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
