The Opportunity

Meridia Recruitment is proud to partner with Sea Centric in search for a Marine Technical Superintendent. The Marine Technical Superintendent is responsible for the technical management, maintenance, and operational readiness of assigned vessels. Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, this role ensures that vessels are maintained to the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and performance.

The Marine Technical Superintendent provides operational and technical expertise across vessel maintenance, compliance, and performance optimization while supporting cost control and operational efficiency. This role works closely with vessel crews, leadership, and vendors to ensure consistent and reliable marine operations.

What You Will Do:
  • Oversee the technical operations and performance of assigned vessels.
  • Lead maintenance planning, including dry dockings, refits, repairs, and preventive programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and classification requirements.
  • Monitor vessel performance, reliability, and fuel efficiency.
  • Support and advise vessel crews on technical matters.
  • Manage procurement of parts, services, and critical spares.
  • Respond to technical issues and support troubleshooting efforts.
  • Track key performance metrics and report to leadership.
What You Bring:
  • Marine Engineering certification required.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in marine engineering or vessel management.
  • Previous experience as a Technical Superintendent or Senior Engineer is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of marine systems, including propulsion, electrical, hydraulic, and HVAC.
  • Experience working with planned maintenance systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Additional Details:
  • This role is based in St. John’s, NL and will require periodic travel to vessels, shipyards, and port facilities.
