Sea Centric Inc. is seeking an experienced and strategic General Counsel to serve as the organization’s primary legal advisor. This is a key leadership role supporting a growing marine operations company involved in vessel chartering, ocean data services, and specialized offshore projects.
You will work closely with the CEO and executive team to provide practical, business-focused legal guidance across contracts, compliance, corporate governance, risk management, and employment matters—helping enable growth while safeguarding the business.

Sea Centric Inc. is seeking an experienced and strategic General Counsel to serve as the organization’s primary legal advisor. This is a key leadership role supporting a growing marine operations company involved in vessel chartering, ocean data services, and specialized offshore projects.
You will work closely with the CEO and executive team to provide practical, business-focused legal guidance across contracts, compliance, corporate governance, risk management, and employment matters—helping enable growth while safeguarding the business.
What You Will Do:
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team on legal, regulatory, and governance matters.
- Develop and implement legal strategies that align with business objectives and support growth.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks while providing practical, solution-oriented guidance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with clients, vendors, and partners.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and industry regulations, and maintain related policies and programs.
- Advise on employment matters, including hiring, terminations, workplace issues, and HR policy development.
- Oversee dispute resolution, claims, litigation strategy, and insurance coverage.
- Build and scale internal legal processes, templates, and frameworks to support operations.
- Manage external counsel relationships and oversee legal budget and spend.
- LL.B. or J.D. and member in good standing with a Canadian law society
- 8–12+ years of experience (private practice and/or in-house)
- Strong background in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Maritime or shipping law (asset)
- Energy, natural resources, or offshore sectors
- Government contracting or procurement
- Environmental law or regulatory compliance
