The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Lead Executive Officer (LEO) and serving as a key member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Operations is responsible for the strategic oversight and operational performance of core organizational functions, including finance, property and development, information technology, and social enterprises.
The Director of Operations ensures strong financial stewardship, operational efficiency, and risk management across the organization, while leading the development of systems, policies, and infrastructure that support service delivery and long‑term sustainability. This role translates organizational strategy into effective operational execution and ensures resources are aligned with Stella’s Circle’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
What You Will Do:

This role translates organizational strategy into effective operational execution and ensures resources are aligned with Stella’s Circle’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
What You Will Do:
- Lead the day‑to‑day and long‑term operational health of the organization by ensuring the right systems, people, and resources are in place to support impact‑driven programs and services.
- Act as a strategic thought partner to the Lead Executive Officer, helping shape priorities, evaluate risks, and turn organizational goals into practical, scalable operations.
- Guide financial planning and oversight to ensure sustainability, transparency, and responsible stewardship of public, charitable, and earned revenues.
- Strengthen how the organization works by improving processes, infrastructure, and tools across facilities, technology, and social enterprise activities.
- Build strong, accountable teams by coaching leaders, promoting collaboration across functions, and supporting a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
What You Bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, along with a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in financial and operational leadership, including 5 or more years in a senior leadership role; experience within the nonprofit or charitable sector, including social enterprise or earned‑revenue models, is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP and Accounting Standards for Not‑for‑Profit Organizations (ASNPO), with demonstrated experience in financial stewardship, governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven ability to lead, make sound decisions, and communicate effectively, with experience developing and implementing policies and organizational frameworks.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 and financial management systems, including Sage 300.
- A current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening and Reliability Status (or the ability and willingness to obtain federal clearance).
- A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
