Meridia Recruitment is pleased to partner with the Teachers’ Pension Plan Corporation (TPPC) in the
search for a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP). Reporting to the CEO, the HRBP will serve as a
strategic advisor to leaders across the organization, aligning with TPPC’s long‑term objectives and
commitment to service excellence. This role plays a critical part in strengthening organizational
effectiveness, supporting talent management, enabling leadership capability, and fostering a culture
rooted in fiduciary responsibility, accountability, and employee well‑being.
What You Will Do
Strategic HR Partnership
• Partner with senior leaders to align Human Resource strategies with business priorities.
• Engage with senior management in preparation of the three-year Strategic Plan.
• Build on the current People and Culture Strategy, ensuring alignment with the Strategic Plan,
and complete the annual review and update of the Strategy.
• Provide guidance on organizational design, succession planning, and long-term capability
building.
Employee Relations
• Serve as an advisor on workplace issues with fairness, confidentiality, and compliance with HR
related policies.
• Coach leaders on managing conflict, supporting well-being, and maintaining a respectful
workplace.
Job Evaluation & Compensation
• Lead the organization’s job evaluation framework to ensure roles are assessed consistently,
transparently, and in alignment with governance and market competitiveness.
• Facilitate job description development and evaluation for investment, member-service, and
corporate support roles.
• Provide guidance on promotions, reclassifications, and salary adjustments in line with
compensation philosophy, including any necessary position benchmarking.
Performance Management – Ownership & Execution
• Manage the full performance cycle: goal-setting, mid-year reviews, and year-end evaluations.
• Train and coach leaders on providing effective feedback and addressing performance issues
early.
• Ensure performance processes emphasize fiduciary responsibility, risk awareness, service
excellence, and ethical conduct.
Policy Development & Maintenance
• Lead the development, maintenance and governance of all HR related policies and
organizational procedures.
Employee Benefit Programs
• Manage and analyze all employee benefit programs and make recommendations for change.
Talent Management & Leadership Development
• Work with leaders to identify and develop high-potential talent in investment, member-service
and corporate support roles.
• Provide guidance on development planning, learning pathways, and leadership readiness.
Recruitment
• Work with leaders to recruit candidates for new or vacant positions, including preparation of job
descriptions and liaison with recruiting agencies, as needed.
Change Management
• Support major organizational initiatives such as system upgrades, plan changes, or restructuring.
• Advise on communication content needs, risk mitigation, and employee engagement during
change.
• Coach leaders on managing transitions with clarity and empathy.
Culture, Engagement & Inclusion
• Promote an inclusive culture rooted in fiduciary responsibility and service to members.
• Support engagement surveys, action planning, and organization-wide culture initiatives.
• Model values aligned with integrity, accountability, and long-term sustainability.
What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in business, concentrating in Human Resources, or a combination of
education and relevant experience.
• A master’s degree is considered an asset.
• CPHR designation is preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive HR experience ideally in pensions, financial services, or a regulated
environment.
• Knowledge of job evaluation methods and compensation best practices preferred.
• Strong analytical, coaching, and communication skills.
