Ocean Capital has an opportunity for a Controller- Project & Unit Reporting. This role provides financial leadership and reporting support for Skyline Holdings Limited (Skyline). This role is primarily responsible for the accounting close process, consolidation of financial results across multiple operating companies under Skyline, preparation and presentation of audited financial results, and coordination of audit activities with the external auditor. As a key member of the Finance team, the Controller will collaborate closely with finance leaders across the organization to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient financial reporting processes while supporting standardization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position also contributes to acquisition due diligence for the Skyline group of entities, business integrations, and special projects focused on strengthening controls, enhancing efficiency, and advancing the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Consolidation
  • Lead the accounting close process for Skyline Holdings and oversee the consolidation of financial results across its related entities, including Acadia Broadcasting, Commercial Properties, Petro Service, Brunswick Brokers, PSHC/John W. Kennedy (U.S.), and Ocean Capital Holdings.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Collaborate with finance leaders across operating businesses to ensure timely and accurate consolidation reporting and to identify opportunities for process automation, specifically intercompany balancing.
  • Maintain consistency in financial reporting, disclosure notes, and supporting documentation across all reporting entities.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate reporting standards and maintain the integrity of financial information.
Audit & Compliance
  • Serve as the primary finance contact for Skyline Holdings external audits, addressing auditor inquiries and coordinating audit deliverables.
  • Manage adherence to audit timelines and facilitate the issuance of clean audited financial statements.
  • Support the preparation and presentation of audited financial statements at Skyline Holdings Quarterly Meetings and Annual General Meetings.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and reporting standards.
Management Reporting
  • Prepare and maintain Statements of Accounts and related supporting schedules to meet quarterly legal and reporting requirements.
  • Support annual reporting requirements for OCH Board of Directors meetings and shareholder communications.
Strategic Projects & Business Support
  • Participate in acquisition due diligence activities and support integration efforts for newly acquired businesses.
  • Contribute to projects such as inventory observations, ERP conversions, process standardization, and implementation of OCHL corporate finance standards.
  • Lead or participate in departmental projects focused on automation, internal controls, reporting enhancements, and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve the effectiveness of reporting and decision-making tools.
Team Collaboration & Development
  • Build strong working relationships with finance teams across operating entities and corporate functions.
  • Provide coverage and support across the finance team during vacations and other absences, fostering cross-functional learning and organizational knowledge.
  • Support the development of finance team capability through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Assist with other responsibilities and special assignments as required.
Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation.
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience post CPA completion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience working with multiple legal entities and complex organizational structures. 
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, system implementations, ERP conversions, or finance transformation initiatives is considered an asset.
  • Strong presentation skills, capable of delivering complex financial information in an engaging and accessible manner.
  • Ability to communicate financial results and process expectations clearly to both financial and non-financial team members.
  • Proven experience collaborating with and presenting to senior leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Reliable self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage priorities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance, training, mentoring, and informal leadership to finance team members.
  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and professional integrity.
