Role Description
The Project Manager is responsible for the technical, financial, and operational management of projects from contract award through completion. This role requires a thorough understanding of contractual and technical requirements and serves as the primary point of contact for clients. The Project Manager attends project meetings as required, leads internal coordination efforts, and builds strong, long-term customer relationships to ensure successful project outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

Safety – Champion Cherubini’s Safety Program by actively promoting the health and well-being of yourself and others in the office, on site, and in the shop. Lead by example and reinforce safety as a core value in all project activities.

Finance – Develop and manage project budgets based on estimates and oversee all fiscal aspects of projects from start to finish. Prepare financial reports as required. Manage contract changes, including cost and schedule impacts. Prepare progress billings, support collections as needed, issue purchasing requisitions, and approve invoices in accordance with budget and authorization levels.

Technical – Maintain a strong working knowledge of both contractual and technical project requirements. Oversee the preparation and review of shop drawings and erection plans. Review design documentation, prepare and submit requests for information, ensure timely follow-up, and issue clear work packages to the shop floor.

Leadership – Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support repeat business, reduce risk, and improve operational efficiency. Provide guidance and mentorship to Project Coordinators. Conduct regular visits to the shop and project sites to monitor progress and address issues proactively. Track and manage project status from initiation through closeout.

Administration – Prepare comprehensive technical and financial project debriefs. Solicit, evaluate, and coordinate sub-trade bids and supplier quotations for labour, materials, and equipment. Manage purchasing activities to ensure materials and services meet project specifications, schedules, and budget requirements.


Your Qualifications
We are looking for a proactive and adaptable project management professional who can lead projects from planning through completion in a dynamic construction environment. The ideal candidate thrives in collaborative settings, building strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and vendors. Exceptional communication, organization, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to make informed decisions, manage competing priorities, and guide teams effectively. A strong foundation in estimating, cost control, engineering principles, and construction documentation is valuable, and experience in steel fabrication is a significant asset.

Your qualifications include:
  • 5+ years of project management experience in construction, fabrication, estimating, cost control, and/or engineering within a comparable construction or fabrication environment.
  • Prior experience in steel fabrication is a strong asset.
  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent technical training
  • PMP certification or familiarity with PMP principles is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of contracts, drawings, specifications, construction methods, and materials
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Experience using web-based project management and collaboration tools to plan, manage, and track work.
  • Knowledge of safety programs, regulatory requirements, and the Nova Scotia OH&S Act.
  • Must be able to work on-site at Cherubini’s Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office.
