Role Description
The Junior Project Manager supports the successful delivery of steel fabrication projects from contract award through completion. Working closely with Senior Project Managers and Project Coordinators, this role develops hands-on experience in the technical, financial, and operational aspects of projects. You will gain exposure to contract management, fabrication processes, and client relations, building a strong foundation for a career in project management.

Your responsibilities will include:
Safety – Support Cherubini’s Safety Program by promoting safe work practices and contributing to a culture of health and wellbeing in the office, shop, and on project sites. Follow established safety procedures and reinforce safety expectations during project activities.
Finance – Assist with project budgeting, cost tracking, and basic financial reporting under the guidance of a Senior Project Manager. Support the preparation of progress billings, track contract changes, and assist with purchasing requisitions and invoice reviews in accordance with project budgets and authorization limits.
Technical – Develop a working knowledge of project contracts, drawings, and specifications. Assist with the review and coordination of shop drawings and erection plans. Prepare and track requests for information (RFIs), support document control, and help issue work packages to the shop floor.
Leadership – Support customer relationships through professional communication and timely follow-up. Collaborate with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, shop personnel, and site teams to help monitor progress and resolve issues. Participate in shop and site visits to gain hands-on exposure to fabrication and construction activities.
Administration – Assist with project documentation, record keeping, and closeout activities. Support the solicitation and review of supplier and sub-trade quotations. Help coordinate purchasing activities to ensure materials and services align with project requirements, schedules, and budgets.

Your qualifications include:
- 1-3 years of experience in steel fabrication, construction, engineering, or project coordination, or a relevant co-op/internship background. Experience in steel fabrication is strongly preferred.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of steel fabrication processes, terminology, and shop workflows.
- Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, clients, and suppliers.
- Comfort using project management software and standard office applications to track documents, schedules, and costs.
- Awareness of workplace safety practices and a willingness to learn applicable regulatory requirements, including the Nova Scotia OH&S Act.
- Must be able to work on-site at Cherubini’s Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office.
