The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of IT and Cybersecurity Operations, the IT Support Technician is a hands-on role responsible for delivering reliable day-to-day technology support to Nautel’s internal user base. This position plays a central role in maintaining the health and continuity of Nautel’s IT environment, from desktop support and asset management to security systems and backup administration. It is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable and service-oriented professional to grow within a globally recognised manufacturing and engineering organisation.
Please note: this role requires the ability to obtain and maintain Controlled Goods and other security clearances.

Core Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day desktop support including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of hardware and software across desktops, laptops, printers, and phone systems.
  • Deliver consistent IT services to all Nautel users at defined service levels.
  • Provision new users with appropriate equipment and access in accordance with IT standards.
  • Process and document changes associated with new hires, role transitions, and employee departures.
  • Track and maintain an accurate inventory of all IT assets, including licences, computers, mobile devices, servers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Administer anti-virus and endpoint protection systems; respond to and remediate malware threats.
  • Administer and monitor data backup systems to ensure continuity and recoverability.
  • Administer the wireless LAN service.
  • Serve as an IT resource on business and technology projects as required.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update IT documentation to reflect current configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide user training on IT tools and systems, including one-on-one, small group, and web-based formats.
  • Communicate significant IT issues and incidents to the broader IT team in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Contribute feedback and suggestions for improving IT processes, procedures, and tooling.
  • Serve as back-up support to other IT team members as needed.
  • Be available for after-hours or on-call support as required.
Qualifications
Required
  • IT diploma (2-year programme) or equivalent practical experience; candidates with 3+ years of hands-on experience and no formal credentials will also be considered.
  • 1+ year of directly related IT support experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, and enterprise IT environments.
  • Familiarity with IT asset management, endpoint security, backup systems, and wireless networking.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues independently.
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise competing tasks and manage workload without close supervision.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with ERP or business systems (e.g., SYSPRO or similar platforms).
  • Familiarity with IT service management frameworks or ticketing systems.
  • Experience supporting users in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of Controlled Goods regulations or experience working in a security-cleared environment.
