We are excited to partner with their teams as we seek a detail-oriented, experienced Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing full-cycle accounting activities, ensure timely and accurate reconciliations, and support performance reporting through variance analysis. In this role, you will partner closely with internal stakeholders to strengthen month-end processes, enhance reporting quality, and help maintain effective internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Full-cycle accounting, including month-end close activities (journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules).
  • Produce and analyze monthly variance reporting (budget vs. actual; period-over-period), identify key drivers.
  • Support and mentor Junior Accountants, including training and review of work.
  • Leverage advanced Excel to improve reconciliations and reporting (PivotTables, Power Query, complex formulas, lookups, and data integrity checks).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues and streamline workflows.
  • Investigate complex reconciliation (AP/AR, inventory, intercompany, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts) variances and data anomalies; perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify process gaps and control weaknesses; propose improvements and support implementation in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Apply judgment to resolve accounting issues by interpreting policies, assessing risk/materiality, and documenting conclusions.
  • Translate messy or incomplete information into clear, defensible entries and explanations.
  • Proactively spot trends and emerging issues (e.g., recurring reconciling items) and drive prevention-focused fixes.

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience with strong full-cycle exposure.
  • Demonstrated strength in account reconciliations and month-end close processes.
  • Proven ability to deliver clear variance analysis and explain results to non-accounting partners.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (PivotTables, nested formulas, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH; Power Query strongly preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced close environment.
  • Preferred: CPA designation or progress toward CPA.

If you are an accounting professional that enjoys fast paced, dynamic environments and bring a can-do, self starter attitude, this is a perfect role for you. Let’s connect!
